Lady Spartans Put up a Fight with St. Cloud, but come up Short

The M State Women's Basketball team fought hard for four quarters in St. Cloud on Saturday, before succumbing to the Cyclones, 61-50.  St. Cloud led 14-13 after one and then outscored the lady Spartans 18-9 in the second quarter to take a 32-22 halftime lead.  Each team scored 11 third quarter points and in the fourth quarter, St. Cloud scored 18 and the Spartans had 17.

"The girls played with a ton of heart today," commented M State head coach Jodi Holleman.  "I am just so proud of them."

M State had only five players available for the game, so each had to play the full 40 minutes.  Four members of the team reached double figures in scoring with Felicity LeBlanc registering a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  She also had a team high 4 assists.  Madi Foss and Tenley Epema contributed 13 each, and Kaitlyn Olson scored 11.  M State shot 35.7% (20-56) overall and 22.2% (4-18) on 3's.

The top two scorers for St. Cloud came off the bench.  They were led by Brooklyn Fischer and Ella Duevel with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Jenna Boos scored 8 points and Lily Manning had 6.  The Cyclones made 25% (6-24) of their 3's in the game and shot 42% (24-57) overall.

M State ends the season with a record of 6 wins and 13 losses.

St. Cloud finishes their season with a 10-12 mark.
