COLUMBIA FALLS TO TRITON IN FIRST ROUND 58-55

The Columbia State Chargers saw their season come to close on Saturday as the Tritan Trojans were able to hold off the Chargers late to win 58-55 and advance to the next round of the National Tournament.  Columbia ends the season with a 27-5 record.

The first half saw both teams take the lead.  Columbia led for most of the first half, and were up 29-25 at the end of the first twenty minutes.  As the second half started, the Chargers maintained their lead until the Trojans took a brief lead at the 6:04 mark of the second half.  

For the last six minutes. Triton would take the lead and maintain a two point cushion for the next five minutes of the contest.  The Chargers got within one at 56-55 with nine seconds remaining.  Two free throws by the Trojans would increase the lead to three at 58-55.  Columbia would turn the ball over with three seconds remaining.

The Chargers were led by Mahki Wright and Thaddeus 'Trey" Johnson.  Wright had a double-double as he scored 15 points and recorded ten rebounds in the game.  Johnson had 14 points to go with two assists.  Simeon Williams would lead the team with three asissts and three steals.
