The Triceratops Roll

East Campus: -- After a shaky start to the season, the Triceratops (4-4,2-0) have won two straight. Coach Dion Griffin has screamed defense, and the ladies responded by holding the Cats from Erie to 35 total points.

LaNysha Prewitt turned in her best game with a double-double (15 pts, 13 boards, with nine coming off the offensive glass. The Triceratops only shot 39% from the field but their trapping and blitzing defense was masterful in coercing the visiting Cats into 41 turnovers.

Hazely Wagner showed her defensive brilliance with nine steals to accompany her 10 points and only one turnover. Jayleena Bauzo led the team with seven assists (15 pts), and Tyairah Flowers missed a double-double by two boards as she finished with eight rebounds and 11 points.

Takeaways

The game was never a contest, the Lady Tops jumped to a 21 – 1 first-quarter lead and never looked back. The Triceratops outrebounded the Cats on the offensive glass ( 22-6) and for the game (49-29). "It was a team," said Coach Griffin, "we established ourselves defensively and got several easy buckets."

The entire first quarter was a defensive gem as the Cats looked scrambled and out of sync, scoring only one point.
