Volleyball: Region 9 Championship Success

The Central Community College volleyball team defeated North Platte Community College, 3-1, on Saturday in the Region 9 championship.

The Raiders were able to set up their offense and implemented their game plan early, winning the first set handily, 25-14. In the second, North Platte grabbed the momentum back and was able to hold that throughout, winning 25-14. 

In the third set, CCC was able to get a decent lead at the beginning and maintained throughout for a 25-21 victory. The fourth set was by far the most intense as it was back-and-forth the entire way. Neither team went up by more than three throughout the set. However, the Raiders were able to outlast North Platte and win the final set, 25-23, giving the Raiders the 3-1 match victory.  Maleigha Johnson leaded the team in digs with with 27. Lauryn Scott was dominant on the net with 19 kills. Libbie Ball accounted for 44 assists as well.

"Winning the Region 9 championship is a testament to the hard work and resilience of this team," said Mary Young, CCC volleyball head coach. "Our players stayed focused, executed the game plan, and fought for every point. I'm incredibly proud of how they came together, especially in those intense final sets. We're excited to keep this momentum going as we prepare for the Northwest District Championship at home."

The Raiders improve to 18-15 and are in action on Friday and Saturday when they host the Northwest District Championship at the Raider Fieldhouse. Friday night's first serve is set for 7 p.m.
