Saints Fall at FSW
Santa Fe made the trip to Florida SouthWestern on Monday evening to take on the Bucs for the first of two times this week.
Fort Myers, FL
Florida SouthWestern jumped to an early lead and held Santa Fe off down the stretch winning 95-77. FSW never trailed in the game as they took the lead from the jump and did not look back. A 59-point first half was too much to catch up to for the Saints as a Ryan Webster 15-foot shot before the buzzer cut the score to 56-31. Just seconds after the Webster shot, the Bucs buried a three-point basket to take a 59-31 lead into the half. The Saints battled in the second half, as they outscored FSW 46-36. The battle fell short as Florida SouthWestern's first half was too much for SF. The Bucs came to Gainesville on Saturday afternoon for the second game between the two teams in conference play.
Karmell Branch led the team in scoring with 24 points on 8-18 shooting. Branch pulled in seven rebounds, the most by any in Navy and White. Connor Morris and Ryan Webster were the only other Saints in double figures. Morris finished with 15 points on 6-13 shooting, 3-10 from three-point land. Webster finished with 12 points on 5-9 shooting.
Santa Fe was outrebounded by 14 and second-chance points, which played a huge part in the FSW win.
Santa Fe is back in action on Wednesday night as Polk State College comes to town for a 7:00 PM tip.
