Men's Lacrosse Defeats Sussex County

ARNOLD, Md. --  The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team led wire-to-wire in a 22-2 victory over visiting Sussex County Community College Tuesday evening at Siegert Field.

Ten different AACC players recorded at least one goal, led by six including a pair of man-up strikes in the third quarter from Sahil Lengade. Tyson Miller was a key playmaker with three goals and six assists, also logging three caused turnovers. On the defensive end, Jameson Macdonald recorded four caused turnovers.

AACC scored the first nine goals of the game and led, 10-1, after the first quarter. The Riverhawks outscored the Skylanders, 6-1, in the second quarter, finishing the half on a five-goal run.

Sophomore keeper Rocco Gargano made six saves in the fourth quarter as AACC outscored Sussex, 6-0, in the second half. The Riverhawks went 3-for-4 in man up opportunities in the second half and finished the game 4-for-6 with the man advantage.

Starting keeper Matt Tettemer made one save in 23 minutes of work. Robert Duda finished out the first half and played the entire third quarter, stopping both shots he faced.

James Kavney was dominant at the faceoff x, winning all 19 faceoffs he took. As a team, AACC won 23 of 27 draws; Tristan Giesbrecht went 4-for-7.

AACC had 17 successful clears in 19 attempts, while riding Sussex to a 9-for-29 performance.

The Riverhawks continue their homestand on Saturday, March 1, with a 1 p.m. game against Fork Union Military Academy.
