ARNOLD, Md.  – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team swept visiting Orange County Community College Saturday, winning 6-1 and 7-4.

Travis Fleshman went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles and a triple while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Agustin Murillo drove in three runs with two hits, including a double.

Game One

AACC got on the board in the first as a double steal drew the throw to second, allowing Sam Ross to cross the plate. Starter Nicco Holland allowed just one Orange baserunner through three innings as the Riverhawks increased their lead with two runs in both the second and third innings.

With runners on the corners in the second, Jack Hoods hit a single to score Griffin Klein and Fleshman. AACC then loaded the bases with two outs, but could not get a run across. Murillo drove in a pair of runs in the third to make it a 5-0 game.

Orange got its lone run in the fourth with a bases-loaded double to right field. The quick relay got the runner from second out at the plate to halt the threat.

The Colts had runners on the corners with two outs in the fifth, but a groundout ended that inning and Matt Donaldson retired Orange in order in the sixth and seventh innings to keep the Colts at bay.

Klein drove in AACC's final run in the sixth with an infield groundout.

Holland struck out seven batters in his third start of the season, a three-inning outing. Matt Donaldson moved to 2-0 on the year with one run allowed on two hits in two innings of relief work. Dylan Remphrey finished out the game striking out three while allowing no hits in two innings.

Game Two

Orange took an early lead in the error-filled game before AACC scored once in the second, twice in the fourth, and plated four runs in the fifth. The Riverhawks allowed single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Trailing 2-0 after one, Fleshman hit a triple to left to score JC Wilson, who got on via single to right.

Fleshman and Murillo hit back-to-back doubles with two outs in the fourth to give AACC a 3-2 lead.

Orange tied it up in the fifth on an infield single before AACC exploded for four runs in a wild bottom half of the inning.

Klein led off with a single before heading to second on a wild pitch. Ross drew a walk and they both advanced on a balk. Holland then walked to load the bases. Back-to-back infield errors saw Klein and Holland score, but Ross was thrown out at the plate. Wilson sent a runner across with a sacrifice bunt setting up Fleshman for another RBI double.

A leadoff double for the Orange in the sixth turned into a single run for the Colts, but the Riverhawks defense came through the rest of the way. Runners on the corners in the top of the seventh were left aboard as the infield retired the final batter.

Reliever Evan Birch earned his first win of the season allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out two in three innings. Ross picked up his first save of the season, striking out two while allowing one run on two hits. Jack Davidson had the start; he struck out four and allowed two runs on three hits.

AACC closes out the weekend series with Orange County with an 11 a.m. doubleheader Sunday at Skip Brown Field.
