#13 Highlanders drop game at #7 Blinn
The 13th-ranked McLennan Highlander fell to the #7 Blinn Buccaneers 13-3 this afternoon in Brenham. Trevor Ainsworth took the loss on the mound.
The Highlanders jumped out to the early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning. Spencer Butt and Daniel Harden drew back-to-back walks to lead off. Deiten Lachance followed with a three-run homer.
The Buccaneers tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Lane Allen and Caden Ferraro both walked, and Bennett Fryman was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Ryan Williams also walked, scoring Allen. Drew Britton's fielder's choice scored Ferraro and Fryman, and put Williams out at second.
Blinn took the lead with three runs in the second. Brady Sullivan walked and scored on a double by Reece Lunsford. Ferraro walked and both runners advanced on a ground out by Matt Quintanar. Lunsford scored on a wild pitch, and Ferraro scored on a double by Fryman.
The Buccaneers scored three more in the third. Britton reached on an error and Sullivan singled. Lunsford followed with a double to score Britton, and Sullivan scored on a ground out by Allen. Ferraro then doubled to score Lunsford.
Two more Buccaneers score in the fifth. Sullivan walked and Lunsford singled. Allen then doubled to score Sullivan. Quintanar walked, and Fryman singled to score Allen.
Blinn scored two in the bottom of the seventh to seal the run rule. Allen and Ferraro both singled. Fryman then doubled to score Allen, and Ferraro scored on a wild pitch to end the game.
