Cape Fear vs Richard Bland
Cape Fear wins 1-0
Highlights: Cape Fear Community College Women's Soccer overcame the defensive fortitude in Richard Bland to secure a 1-0 victory in the Region 10 Conference Championship match. Richard Bland entered the game with a clear defensive strategy, packing the backfield and tightly marking Cape Fear's key strikers. While this approach made it challenging for the Sea Devils to capitalize on numerous counterattacks, Cape Fear stayed focused and persistent.
After an intense first half and most of the second struggling with finding the back of the net, the breakthrough came in the final minutes when Kenliana Dixon made a powerful drive toward goal, drawing out Richard Bland's keeper. She then delivered a perfectly timed cross to an unmarked Amina Bracey, who confidently finished to give Cape Fear the lead.
Head Coach C.W. Ponton praised the team's ability to embrace the challenge and play a solid game overall: "This was a full team effort. It took all 22 players and 2 coaches to get us to this point. Props to Richard Bland for getting to the final - they played a very solid, frustrating defensive game that we had to work to prepare for. Now we enjoy this for a couple days and get ready for the district final next weekend."
With the Region 10 title in hand, the Sea Devils advance to the district final next weekend, they are eager to keep their momentum alive as they aim for further postseason success. Cape Fear will take on Region 8's Pensacola State College for the South Atlantic District Final that will be held on Saturday, November 2 at CFCC. The district tournament winner will receive a bid to the National Tournament on November 17-23, 2024 at John Hunt Park and Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville, AL.
