
Northwest Florida State Dominates Pensacola State with a 13-3 Victory
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Northwest Florida State put together a complete performance on Saturday, cruising to a 13-3 win over Pensacola State behind a powerful offensive display and strong pitching.
Pensacola State struck first in the top of the second inning when Brennon Uglialoro grounded out to bring in a run, giving the Pirates an early 1-0 lead. However, the Raiders quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning, taking control of the game. Matthew Keller singled to center to drive in a run, followed by a Tristan Bittle RBI single down the left field line. Henry Allen capped off the inning with a sacrifice liner, putting Northwest Florida State up 3-1.
The Raiders extended their lead in the third inning as Qrey Lott delivered an RBI single to center, making it 4-1.
The floodgates opened in the fourth when Northwest Florida State erupted for five more runs. Henry Allen drove in another run with a single before Sam Bradley launched a three-run homer to center field, giving the Raiders a commanding 8-1 advantage. Matthew Farner added an RBI double to cap off the inning, pushing the lead to 9-1.
On the mound, left-hander Cooper Powell got the start for the Raiders, delivering a solid performance. He allowed just three hits and three runs (two earned) over 4.1 innings while striking out six without issuing a walk. Carson Small took the ball for Pensacola State, allowing seven hits and four runs over 2.2 innings while striking out three and walking one. Sam Schmidt entered in relief for Northwest Florida State, keeping the Pirates' offense in check.
Offensively, the Raiders racked up 15 hits, showcasing their depth at the plate. Matthew Farner led the charge, going 3-for-4, while Lott, Bittle, and Keller each collected multiple hits. Sam Bradley's three-run blast provided a key spark in the middle innings.
For Pensacola State, Jaden Gummersbach, Tate Sanders, and Drew Reaves each tallied a hit, while Gummersbach and Mason Onate drove in runs.
With the dominant win, Northwest Florida State moves to 4-2 in conference play (22-7 overall). The Raiders will have the week off before they hit the road to take on Tallahassee State on Friday at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) followed by a home game the following day at 1:00 p.m.
