
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball team swept visiting Delaware Tech, 4-1 and 5-1, in the Riverhawks' home opener Friday. AACC combined for seven stolen bases on the day, led by a 4-for-4 performance from Sam Ross.
Game One
Ross led off the game with a bunt to third, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came around to score on an Evan Birch single to right.
Delaware Tech got on the board in the second in a two-out rally.
In the third, AACC took advantage of a pair of walks to set up an RBI single from Camden Hodges. Leading 2-1, AACC plated the next run on a balk.
Agustin Murillo drove in a run with a two-out double in the fourth to make it 4-1 AACC.
The Riverhawks pitching staff allowed just three Delaware Tech baserunners from the third inning on. Matt Donaldson earned the win with four innings of relief work. He allowed one hit while striking out six. Starter Caden Houck went three innings allowing one run on two hits while fanning one.
Game Two
AACC held a 5-0 lead headed into the seventh of game two before Delaware Tech plated one on a sac fly in the top of the inning.
Hodges doubled down the left field line in the first to score Nicco Holland, who reached via walk. AACC added two runs in the third inning. Jack Woods led off with a single and eventually scored on an infield error. Ross, who reached via hit by pitch, came around to score on a passed ball.
Tyler Fleshman led off the fourth with a double and came around to score on a Woods single to left, and in the fifth, Birch drove in the Riverhawks' final run with a single to center.
Jack Davidson picked up the win with three innings of relief work. He struck out three and allowed one hit. Starter Rocco Dietz fanned two and walked one with one hit through two innings. Ross closed out the game on the mound, striking out two with one run on two hits in two innings.
Next up for AACC is a four-game weekend series against Hudson Valley Community College. Games are scheduled for 11 am starts on Saturday and Sunday.
