Spartans Beat Cougars for Home Win

Marcus Pasha's 39 points led Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball to a home win over Clinton Community College on Saturday.
The Spartans led from start to finish against the Cougars, scoring at least 50 points in each half on their way to a 102-90 win. The victory moves Cayuga to 3-9 on the season, with a 3-7 mark in Region III play.
Cayuga's offense dominated the game from the opening tip, with the Spartans sprinting out to a 15-5 lead. Cayuga held a single-digit lead for much of the frame behind a combined 27 points from Pasha and Desean Strachan. The Spartans sank seven three-pointers in the half and led 50-39 at the break.
The Spartans' offense was strong again in the second half, starting on an 8-2 run and eventually growing the lead to 20 points. Clinton climbed back to trail 79-70 with less than nine minutes to play, but the Spartans scored six straight points to put the lead back to 15. The Spartans led for double-digits the rest of the game.
Pasha finished with 39 points, and Strachan had 16 points. Forward Tony Borges had 20 points, Jorge Jimenez had 11 points, and Amaree Samuel and Gerod Jackson each had seven points.
Cayuga is back home Sunday, Jan. 19, to host North Country Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
