
Cougars Battle Hard but Come Up Short Against Hagerstown
Frederick Community College women's basketball put up an intense fight but ultimately fell to Hagerstown Community College Hawks 59-52 in a closely contested matchup. The Cougars started off competitive, trailing by just three points after the first quarter and matching the Hawks' scoring output in the second to keep the game within reach at halftime. However, a tough fourth quarter where FCC managed only five points proved the difference as Hagerstown secured the win.
Alaysia Jemmott led the way for the Cougars with an impressive 22 points on 11-of-18 shooting while also grabbing six rebounds. Heaven Murray added 12 points, four rebounds, and a team-high eight assists, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor. Bre Lawyer made a huge impact across the board with six points, three assists, and four steals. Despite their efforts, the Cougars struggled to control the boards, being outrebounded 34-22, which played a key role in the outcome.
With this loss, the Cougars drop to 4-13 overall and 2-8 in Region 20 DII play. They will look ahead to their next game at home against CCBC Essex on February 26 at 5:00 PM.
